Privacy & Story Use Statement

This page explains how nomination/contact information and personal stories should be handled as the archive grows.

Contact information

When visitors submit a nomination or request contact, the website may collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, city/state information, and story summaries. This information is used to review nominations, contact participants, and support project communications such as email or text updates when permission has been given.

Story information

Stories shared with the project should be treated respectfully. A nomination does not automatically publish a person’s story. Publication should occur only after the project has appropriate permission, release language, and review.

Educational use

The purpose of the archive is preservation and education. Approved interviews may later be used on the website, in classroom materials, museum-style resources, community programming, documentaries, podcasts, or related educational formats according to the participant’s permission.

Future consent language

Before the full archive workflow is built, the project should add a clear consent and release form covering recording, editing for clarity, publication, educational use, privacy options, anonymity, and any embargo date requested by the participant.
